Monday’s Musings

Hey Cats!

Guess who’s back? Monday. Yay for another week of work, school, or whatever else! I’m looking forward to the end of this week (per usual), because I’m going to visit my friend Ashley in Houston. Yay for shopping and bestie time!

I found this quote a few weeks ago and had to share!

blessed quote

Sometimes I get so caught up in my everyday life and the stresses it brings that I forget how truly blessed I am. I may get tired of my classes, but I have the opportunity to attend one of the best universities in the state. I may not want to wake up for work in the morning, but I have a job. I may be annoyed when I have to cook because I’ve spent all my “eating-out” money for the week, but at least I have food. In addition to all of that, I have a family and friends that love me, my health, and most importantly, a Savior that loves me and died for me. Sometimes a little perspective and a reminder to count your blessings can work wonders!

Spring 2014, Here I Come!

Hey Cats!

So I’m heading back to College Station today for the spring semester! I have mixed emotions about this. Obviously, I’m ready to get back to the place I love, but at the same time, this break has seemed incredibly short, and I wish I had a few more days to spend with my family. I actually hadn’t planned on going back this early, but I have a job interview Friday morning, which is exciting! Also one of my roommates will be back tomorrow as well, and the other on Friday (and our “fourth roommate”/bestie Ashley)! I can’t wait to see them and hear about their break.

Even though I feel like I didn’t get enough time at home, I still had a wonderful break. I got to hang out with my best friend Kinsey a lot, see my extended family, help my sister with wedding stuff, and had an all-around joyful holiday season. I just wish I had a few extra days to hang out and work on my afghan, but I do not. Luckily, I will be home in a few short weeks for my seastar’s wedding, so that will be nice!

I’m really looking forward to this semester, though. Spring semesters have such a different feel from fall. There’s no football, but somehow it seems just as (if not more) busy! I’m excited about my classes, especially my Health Communication class. Also, I’m getting my Aggie ring on April 11th and I literally cannot wait. I’m planning to join a few new organizations this semester, so that should keep me busy! Another goal is to find an internship for this summer, which is going to require a lot of work, but I’m ready! I’ll also be meeting with a few advisors to try and figure out what I’m going to do with my life because help me, I’m almost an adult. In addition to all these things, I’m looking forward to getting more involved with my church and making new friends in my classes and organizations. I can’t wait to see what God will teach me!

So even though I could stay a few more days, I’m ready to be back in a routine. Once I get everything packed (you should see this mess- I don’t even know where to begin) I’ll be singing my way back to Aggieland with my gurl Hilary Duff. Not a joke, I listen to her “Greatest Hits” album every time. She’s very inspirational, and I partially credit my high self-esteem in junior high (and now) to her.

I hope everyone has had a great holiday season, and all of you traveling back to school have a safe trip and a wonderful semester! I look forward to bloggin’ in 2014!

Lily Pulitzer Agenda Review

Hey Cats!

As you may or may not know, I am incredibly Type A, especially when it comes to school. It’s a new development since I went to college. I like to tell myself that it’s because I have a “commitment to excellence” (which is a Texas A&M core value), but many times I’m just being dramatic. One thing I have come to love, cherish, and protect with my life in my past two years of college is my planner. If you’re going to college this fall and in high school you were one of those kids who didn’t really keep up with anything (speaking from experience) and still breezed through, that will change. Once you’re responsible for not only your grades but also your physical survival, you will NEED a planner to help you keep your life together. The first two years, I had a super cute refillable planner with a hot pink cover, and it served its purpose well. However, this year I decided I needed something a little different. I’m going to be involved in a few more organizations, I’m taking a pretty heavy course load, and I’m going to be my sister’s Maid of Honor in February. So I’m already a little stressed. I’d heard that Lily Pulitzer agendas were the way to go, but I was also considering Erin Condren and May Designs. I am super picky about my planner-  a monthly calendar before the weekly pages is imperative, there must be adequate space on each day for me to write assignments on the left and social engagements on the right, and it has to be durable enough to survive an entire year in my backpack and for me to dramatically throw on the ground at least once during finals week. Lily was the one that met all of these criteria. I love how you can personalize Erin Condren and May Books, but there are some things I’m just not willing to sacrifice. I ended up purchasing the Jumbo Agenda in the “Get Nauti” print, and I’m already obsessed.

photo (30) First of all, I love the print. I’m a little concerned that it might make me want to go to the beach instead of the library, but we’ll cross that bridge later. Also, I love the durable cover and spiral binding-great for wear-and-tear it’s sure to endure. Inside, the pages are sprawling with space for me to meticulously plan out my days, and they have precious Lily print scattered throughout! I also plan to make great use of the sticker page- there’s one for every occasion! While I haven’t used it to its full potential yet (but I plan to keep you posted), I already love my new planner, and I feel it will keep me large and in charge during this hectic year ahead! I would recommend Lily agendas to any fabulous woman living a fabulously busy life! They come in an array of sizes and patterns, and there is sure to be one for everyone!

#finals2012

Hey Cats!

So, it’s finals week.

Gross.

Actually, I have a love-hate relationship with finals. Hate for the obvious reasons of “I’ve been in the library since dawn and I have NO RECALL OF THIS INFORMATION WHATSOEVER”, and love because it means classes are almost over and I can go home and eat real food and blog and craft for days. And they mean I will soon find out my GPA for the semester, which makes me really excited. As long as it’s good. Which brings me to my next point.

I have BIG NEWS EVERYONE. I think I have decided what I’m going to do with my life. Finally.

I have decided to go to law school! Well not like, now, obviously, since I’m only in my second year of college, but I have decided to head in that direction. I’ve been thinking about being a lawyer for a long time, but I finally decided to commit and make it my actual, concrete goal. AND I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT IT. Last week I went to pre-professional advising and had a nice, encouraging chat with Karen. It was so great, she was such a gem. Hopefully this is actually what I want to do and I haven’t just been watching Legally Blonde too much.

So there’s that.

Also, I’ve been thinking about what I plan to do with my time over Christmas break. First, I will sleep. For as long as I want. And it will be blissful. You see, I somehow got 8 a.m. classes four days a week this semester, and I seem to have something to do early every Saturday, so I can’t remember the last time I slept in. Next, I will frantically run around and buy everyone Christmas gifts. I have an idea of what I’m getting my Princess SisterCat, but I can’t say because she will read this. I have NO IDEA what I’m getting my parents. Maybe I’ll just limit my whiny phone calls to once a week, they will LOVE THAT. After I have all my shopping done, I will catch up with my high school friends. They’re so great, and I love them. Most of us are scattered all over the place, so we only see each other during Thanksgiving/Christmas/Summer breaks. We’re already planning a potluck dinner, since we’re all so excited that we’re basically gourmet chefs now that we don’t live in the dorms. We’ll also probably FREAK OUT about the fact that WILLIAM AND KATE ARE HAVING A BABY OMG. Out senior year was the Royal Wedding, and we stayed up all night and had a party and woke up at 4 to watch it live and wore dresses to school. So we’ll obviously be having a baby shower for them.  Also, I’ll be hanging out with my Princess SisterCat. We’re besties, and we’re going to have a great time being together for an entire month. Especially when we have our Christmas Eve sleepover! I can’t wait. I’ll also eat way too much, but luckily big bulky sweaters are in. Just kidding. Kind of. And then I’ll do whatever I want, but that’s not any different from any other day of my life.

As I mentioned earlier, it’s finals week. So I leave you with this. I hope you can control yourselves better than this girl. (sometimes I feel like doing this to the annoying freshman couple that makes out on the couch in the libs, but I don’t. Thank God.)

Until next time!
