I’ve Got A Blank Space, Baby…

Hey Cats!

I hope everyone’s Monday was great! Mine was kind of a Monday, not in the sense that it was bad, but it was super busy with lots of things emerging out of the blue. I didn’t even finish my morning reports until after lunch, which really stressed me out. But by the end of the day, things had definitely calmed down, and after a workout and a night of blogging (for both work and fun…yay!) , I’m ready to go today!

Decorating my apartment was something I had looked forward to long before I knew where I would be living. I had most of my wall space planned out: collage wall above my couch, big mirror in the dining room, Audrey Hepburn print surrounded by my antique hat collection above my bed, and a couple of oddly-shaped prints and collage frames to squeeze into the tiny slivers of wall wherever I could find. That pretty much covered everything, except for a few gaping expanses of wall over my TV, my dresser, and in my hallway.

So what to put in these blank spaces? Well I don’t have anybody’s name to write, that’s for sure. But I have been considering a few options, and  maybe you could help me out! I think that all of these options would look great, but the trouble is deciding on only two or three! Here are my options:

prada-marfa

A Prada Marfa canvas is the perfect chic and sleek addition to my apartment. I am 100% sure I’m getting one of these, but I haven’t decided what room I’m going to put it in! There are a lot of options on Etsy, in many different sizes. I’m wanting one that’s fairly large so it will cover a lot of wall space.

Deco+Radiance+Wall+Mirror

I’m also considering a sunburst mirror for above my dresser. I found this one on Wayfair, but I bet you could also find one at Home Goods (my favorite place ever) or Hobby Lobby!

wall-monogram

Obviously I’m considering a wall monogram, like this big one from Marley Lilly. It comes unfinished, but I would probably paint it gold, gray, or black! I thought about doing a design but I do not have that type of talent, so one color it is. But glitter is also an option, per usual.

Watercolor-canvas

I also love the idea of a watercolor canvas. This one from Pottery Barn is beautiful, but it wouldn’t really match the rest of my decor. I have my eye on one at HomeGoods, it’s navy, gray, pink and gold and would look perfect on any of my blank spaces- plus it’s a lot cheaper!

collage-wall

Finally, I’m considering another collage wall, because it’s perfect for those of us who can’t decide. I also have a couple of small art pieces that need a home, so this is looking like a good option. And obviously I would love to find quite a few more!

So now that you’ve seen my options, which ones are your favorite? Let me know!

Trends I’m Loving- Turban Headbands

Hey Cats!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was pretty uneventful, but that’s what I wanted! I’ve had busy weekends every week since I got back from Christmas break, so it was nice to hang out and relax a little.

Today I’m going to share with you a trend I’ve had my eye on for a while, but haven’t quite been brave enough to try! I once saw Kourtney Kardashian wearing a turban and thought it was the best thing ever, but was certain I could never pull it off. Then, turban headbands started popping up everywhere- a less bold version of the trend. While I still haven’t mustered up the courage to try it myself, I love this look! It’s different, but as easy as throwing on a headband!

I’ve seen these at many boutiques here in College Station, but my favorite come from an Etsy shop I stumbled across a while back. Rayna Jaye has such a great variety of colors and patterns. I honestly can’t decide which is my favorite! I also love the width- I’m really picky about headbands, I can’t have them too fat or too skinny, and these are the perfect width, especially for a turban-style headband.

Here are a few of my favorites! Also, doesn’t Rayna have the best hair you’ve ever seen? I’m jeal.

Emerald and Gray Color Block - Turban Style Headband

I love this Emerald and Gray Color Block option! The two colors give it a fun twist, but it’s not too busy.

Rose Garden - Turban Style Headband

Next is this Rose Garden number. I love the delicate, feminine print of this one- it would be precious paired with a chambray, dark denim, and a pair of nude flats.

I also love this Blush Glitz turban. It’s a little bit of sparkle, but it’s still pretty neutral, so you could wear it with a lot!

Have you tried the turban headband trend? Let me know, and then be sure to check out Rayna Jaye on Etsy!

*Special thanks to Rayna for allowing me to use her photographs!*

Review- Mandy Monograms Hat

Hey Cats!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted- school has definitely been keeping me busy, along with quite a few Aggie football games, trips, and special visitors! I just finished my second round of tests and now have a break for a couple of weeks, so maybe I will have a bit more time on my hands to blog!

A few weeks ago, I ordered a monogrammed cap from Mandy’s Monograms on Etsy. I have been wanting a monogrammed camouflaged hat for months, and I finally found one that I loved! It was about $21 with shipping, so it was a great deal! The camo print isn’t just right, not too country, not too cartoon-looking, and I loved the hot pink thread option. (You can get basically any color, but the pink was my fave!). I ordered the hat with the block monogram rather than script, but I was sent the script. I was a little upset at first, so I contacted Mandy, and she was more than willing to send me a new one. However, I decided that I liked the script better, since it made the hat look more feminine.

This is a great hat to throw on when you’re running late and haven’t had time to fix your hair before class! Also, if the opportunity ever prevents itself to go hunting or participate in some other outdoor activity, this would be the perfect accessory! I’m very pleased with my purchase, and if you’re looking for a monogrammed hat, I would suggest Mandy’s Monograms!

Review- iPhone Case From Cali’s Cases

Hey Cats!

I have been wanting a monogrammed iPhone case ever since I got an iPhone, but I was afraid to get anything other than an OtterBox because of my clumsy nature. However, I recently decided that I was tired of my OtterBox, and it was time for something cuter! I have been searching for the perfect case for quite some time, and I finally came across Cali’s Cases on Etsy. She has tons of options for every taste, and they very affordable!

Image

I chose this adorable leopard print with a hot pink monogram, because the animal print made me feel really fierce and fabulous. I chose the rubber case, since I felt like it would protect my phone the best. Cali’s ships amazingly fast; I ordered the case on Wednesday and received it on Saturday! Also, the case is more durable than I thought it was going to be. The rubber isn’t flimsy, and the back printed portion of the case is a hard plastic. I was worried about it not protecting my phone as well as my OtterBox, but I think it will hold up pretty well! It’s also a lot slimmer and less bulky than my OtterBox, which is great! So, if you’re looking for a monogrammed iPhone case, I would definitely recommend Cali’s Cases. She also has iPad cases, monogrammed tumblers, decals, keychains, and more affordable monogrammed items! Cali has also offered 10% off of an order for Sweet Cats! readers! Just enter the coupon code “10OFF” when you check out! Let me know how you like it!

Need It Now- My Current Obsessions

Hey Cats!

Recently, I’ve gained a new love for jewelry. In the past I found it difficult to find pieces that matched each outfit, but that was only because my collection was too small. So obviously I had to do something about that! Over the past year, my bauble stash has grown considerably (but not too much, I’m on a college girl budget) and I have enjoyed adding variety to my wardrobe with jewelry. I try not to get pieces that are too trendy so I can use them forever, but there are a few pieces that are so “right now” that I’m dying to try!

Above-The-Knuckle Rings

I LOVE these. They’re so dainty and a little bit funky, and they remind me of Phoebe from friends. My friend Kinsey and I were shopping the other day and we found some and completely freaked out because we have been looking for them FOREVER. I didn’t get any, (I so should have) but she did and they’re so cutie! I think they look great with bright nails and a well-stacked wrist! I also love the look of having one on multiple fingers. The ones pictured above are from Children Of Flowers on Etsy. Etsy has a great selection with an excellent price range! I love the chevron, and I also love these simple bands from AlinMay, these with the gorgeous rhinestone detail from JackandHazelStore, and of course, these with the precious heart and triangle detail from Raw Earth Studio. There are so many more that I love, initials, crosses, and many other shapes! There’s something for everyone!

The Stacked Wrist

Image

This image from kate spade new york shows a few variations on the stacked wrist. I like the different materials and color combinations, I think it adds interest and personality to an outfit! I also love anchoring the look with a big watch, like this one from Michael Kors. Another great addition to the stacked wrist is a few of these beautiful beaded bracelets from Lily and Laura&lt. The best thing about a stacked wrist is that you can use what you have, and it never has to look the same!

Layered Necklaces

Image

I have one necklace that I typically wear every day, with a Texas A&M charm and my sorority letters, so I’m usually not into other necklaces, but the layered look is making me think again! I love the look of a few dainty chains of varying lengths with different charms or stones. I’m looking into buying a few to mix with a necklace I found in a vase of old jewelry from Goodwill I received at a white elephant party last Christmas. It has a small gold circle charm that says “LOVE” and it’s adorable. I plan on pairing it with a gold and turquoise cross necklace, like this one from addieladawn on Etsy, and an initial necklace, like this one from mctdesigns on Etsy.

All of these trends are definitely on my “to-buy” list for the summer! What are you loving right now?
