Friday’s Five

Hey Cats!

Happy Friday…we made it! I feel like this week has flown by, which is great because I’m looking forward to a fun and relaxing weekend. I’m going dancing with some new friends tonight, and then Saturday I plan to lay by the pool until I finish my book, or until I finally reach an acceptable level of tan, whichever comes first.

Here’s what I’ve been loving this week!

1. Fruity Ice Cubes

Ashley-Brooke-Designs-Fruit-Ice-Cubes-1024x676

I saw these pretty little ice cubes on Ashley Brooke Designs’ Instagram a week or so ago, and I died. 1. They’re beautiful, 2. This looks like a foolproof way to have infused water whenever I want. I had every intention of making these, so I bought raspberries, lemons, and limes at the grocery store. But then I got home and realized that I don’t have ice trays. And then, I went back to the grocery store in the middle of the week because I only had two types of cheese (THE HORROR), and I could not find ice trays anywhere. So we will try another store on another day.

2. Woods comma Elle, Inspirational Figure.

elle-woods2 I found this Buzzfeed article that shares 23 Important Life Lessons You Learned from Elle Woods. You may or may not know that it’s my not-so-secret life dream to be Elle Woods, so obviously I loved it. I used to watch Legally Blonde about once a semester to keep me from giving up, not even a joke.

3. Marley Lilly Downtown Tassel Crossbody

ML-downtown purse

I love my classic monogrammed clutch  from Marley Lilly (you see it in about 75% of my Instagrams), but I’m also obsessed with this new Downtown Tassel purse. It’s a little dressier, and lately I have been fond of the initials rather than the traditional monogram. Not that I would ever turn either one down. This would be so cute for a night out, gameday, or just when you don’t want to carry your huge bag around!

4. Wall Decor

gold-skull

I have been wanting an animal head decoration on my wall for quite some time. That sounds so weird. But you have this photo for reference, so you know I’m not a freak. I like the deer, but I also like this golden cow skull from Benevolent Jewels! This would be cute wedged somewhere in a gallery wall! I like it because it’s like me- a little bit country, but a little bit glam, too. P.S., Benevolent Jewels has totally re-vamped their site, and it’s fabulous! Head over and check it out!

5. Life Saying

i do what i want

I found this on Pinterest the other day, and it made me think of myself. The other day, I told my friends that “I just have this thing where I don’t do anything I don’t want to do”. Once you get to that point in life, it’s just great. So go do whatever you want this weekend, I sure will.

That’s all for meow!

Friday’s Five

Hey Cats!

Happy Friday! It’s been a short week for me, because on Monday, I was at home in Tyler for a doctor’s appointment. It was nice to be at home, but to be honest, I’ve had a hard time getting back into my regular routine at work! Per usual, I’m super excited for the weekend, partly because I finally get to sleep in, but mostly because I’m going to the Garth Brooks concert on Saturday with my bestie Ashley! I love Garth, so I’m beside myself, and obviously I already have my outfit picked out. Even though it was a short week looking forward to the weekend, I still found five things I’m loving this week.

1. A Big Announcement

monogrammed-life

I’m so excited to share that I am now a contributing blogger to Marley Lilly‘s blog, The Monogrammed Life! Some of my posts that I share here may also be on their site as well! For years, I’ve been wanting to establish a partnership with a company I love through my blog, but I always felt like my blog wasn’t fancy enough, or that it had too many words and not enough pictures of clothes. However, that wasn’t something I was willing to change, so I decided that it was better to be patient and wait for someone who loved my blog the way it was. I’ve always loved Marley Lilly products, and I’m very happy they love my work as well! Check out my bio on the site, and be sure to follow along to see other great posts from my fellow contributors!

2. Sprinkle Bowls

sprinkle-bowl-1

I came across these sprinkle bowls on Pinterest, and they are adorable. I love sprinkles on my ice cream, so how fun would it be to eat my ice cream out of a bowl made out of sprinkles? I need to have a party and make these ASAP.

3. A Sassy Mug

1-BTSFW15_thermalmug_best_grande

ban.do, the best place for sassy desk accessories has done it again. Like my pencil pouch that lets everyone know that I do not have time for games, this travel mug takes the liberty of saying what I’m thinking all the time. I need it.

4. Kendra Scott Bracelet

kendra-bracelet

I’ve been wanting some new Kendra for my jewelry collection lately, and I’m loving this Grady bracelet! It’s dainty, but still adds a pop of color to your outfit!

5. Bethenny

bethenny-gif

Because without her, RHONY would be literally nothing this season.

Friday’s Five

Hey Cats!

Yayay Friday! I’m so exited for the weekend! I don’t have a lot planned, but I’m excited to have some time to rest, clean, and get caught up on thank-you notes from graduation. I did have some of what would usually be “weekend fun” on Pre-Friday yesterday, but more on that in a minute. As much as I definitely needed and enjoyed being by myself these past few weeks, the “new” is starting to wear off and I’m ready to make some new friends here. I started visiting churches a few weeks ago, so hopefully I will find a group of people to hang out with soon! But until then, it looks like it will be gourmet pizzas on Friday nights. I mean, hey, life could be worse. Here’s what I’m loving this week:

1. Burd Jewelry

IMG_0457

Last week, I received an invitation from Natasha, the creator of Burd Jewelry, to attend her second trunk show in Rice Village! I was excited because it was my first trunk show as a blogger, Rice Village is one of my favorite parts of Houston, and her jewelry is so beautiful and surprisingly affordable! I will be writing an entire post on Burd next week, but until then, check it out for yourself!

2. Holy Crepes

IMG_0456

After the trunk show, my bestie Ashley and I headed over to Sweet Paris Creperie for dinner. We’ve been here quite a few times, because it’s the best. This time, I tried something new and ordered the Ham & Gruyere crepe and I almost DIED it was so good. We also had a lemon dessert crepe, which was the perfect crisp finish to our meal. If you’re in Houston, be sure to stop by, even if it’s just for dessert! It’s also incredibly adorable inside.

3. The Skimm

the-skimm

As you all know, I cannot start my mornings without The Skimm. It’s a quick little email that gives you the rundown on current events in an easy-to-read, easy to understand format with fun little subject lines (possibly my favorite part) such as “Whoomp there it is”, etc. Want to know what’s going on in Washington, the Middle East, and even in cyberspace? Then Skimm it. That way when someone brings up the FIFA corruption in conversation, you can at least say, “you know, I have heard a bit about that”. BOOM. Adulthood made easy.

4. Cookie Butter Iced Coffee

cookie-butter-coffee

THIS IS NOT A DRILL, I REPEAT, NOT A DRILL. Lauren from DC Girl in Pearls, God bless her. She is a saint for sharing this with us all. I found her recipe for Cookie Butter Iced Coffee the other day, and after that I couldn’t really focus on anything else. I mean, it’s cookie butter and coffee. What a time to be alive. I still have to find a lazy girl’s method for iced coffee for this to work well, though. I think that’s going to be my weekend project. Maybe it can be yours too!

5. Milania Guidice

tumblr_n8oghavgr01ql5yr7o1_500

Miss her. She’s going to be that friend you can count on to say what everyone’s thinking, but nobody really wants to say out loud. And somebody needed to tell Tre, if we’re being real.

That’s all I’ve got. Have a great weekend!

Friday’s Five

Hey Cats!

Yay for Friday! I’m super excited for this weekend, because I get to see my sister and the rest of my family! I only got to see my sister a couple of times the week I was at home before I moved, so I can’t wait to see her and show her my new apartment! She and her husband have a wedding in Houston, so I will see them before, and then I’m riding with them to my dad’s side of the family’s family reunion, where I will see my parents!

It’s been a great first full week of work! Here’s what else I’ve been loving this week:

1. The Pioneer Woman’s Crunchy French Toast

crunchy

Well, she’s done it again. Ree Drummond, my culinary hero and fellow Aggie basketball lover posted a picture of this DIVINE-looking French Toast on her Instagram page last week, and I had to know what made it crunchy. GUYS. She breaded her French Toast in Panko bread crumbs and then cooked it in butter. I’m dead. I need it. I don’t know when I’ll use the rest of a loaf of bread, but I have to try it. Maybe Saturday morning? Yes.

2. Monogrammed Wrapping Paper

monogrammed-wrapping-paper

Just when I thought we had run out of objects to monogram, they found another one. This monogrammed gift wrap from Ann Page is the only way I will accept gifts from this day forward. Just kidding, I accept gifts in any form. Always. But really, how adorable is this? Just so Southern. Except I do have one question…do you get it with your monogram, or the monogram of the person you’re giving the gift to? If you have any clarification, please share.

3. JCrew Chino Shorts

jcrew-chinos

Since it’s warm now, I will inevitably buy a new color of JCrew chino shorts. They’re just the best, and they’re always such a good deal during the summer! This year, I have my eye on this vibrant flame pair. How cute would these be with a white eyelet tank? Too cute.

4. What’s Gaby Cooking Instagram

image1

One of my favorite ways to waste time is by scrolling through the Discover page of Instagram. Mine is typically filled with pictures of food, and I’m not even sorry about it, because this has led to my discovery of multiple delicious Instagram accounts, and blogs too! My latest unearthed treasure? What’s Gaby Cooking. Just look at those delicious burgers, fresh produce, and yummy desserts! She also has a pretty cool blog where she tells you how to make all of these treats. Check it out!

5. Weekend Inspiration

Eat more tacos. Duh.

I hope you all have a great weekend! That’s all for meow!

Friday’s Five

Hey Cats!

Well, we made it. The week after spring break is always a tough one, because you’ve had a little taste of summer, the weather is getting warmer, and all that’s left of school is the big projects that no one really wants to do. I didn’t have any tests or anything which was good, but I have a lot of things coming up, so I really need to get ahead if possible. (hahahahahaha jokes). Or at least plan out when I’m going to do everything.

But enough about school, let’s talk about how I think I broke my toe yesterday. I was sitting on my bed doing homework, when I decided I could not continue reading about communicable diseases without a package of fruit snacks (tip- do not save mandatory health classes until your last semester, you will hate it- trust.). So I sprung off my bed too quickly and landed on my toes rather than the ball of my foot. They kind of curled under, causing all of my weight to land on my little phalanges. I definitely heard a pop, but it didn’t really hurt so I just continued downstairs for my study snack. Then later, I was putting on my shoes, and tightening the laces HURT. Upon further inspection, I observed that my toe was bruised and hurt when I moved it. Just in time for sandal season, so that’s cool. I will get back to you after I walk to work this morning- that should be fun. So the moral of the story is, don’t get too excited about your fruit snacks- you could hurt yourself. I digress.

Here’s this week’s five:

1. What I’m Eating

quinoa patties 1

I know, I know. It’s either quinoa or brussels sprouts with me. Honestly, I have no defense for the brussels sprouts, there’s only so many ways you can make them. But quinoa is a very versatile grain, and sometimes I get bored with sprinkling parmesan cheese on top and calling it a side. I found this great recipe for Spring Herb Quinoa Patties on Two Tarts, and it’s by far my favorite quinoa cake recipe that I’ve tried. I halved the recipe, left out mint and green onion (only because I didn’t have any- but it sounds like it would make them even better!), and added dill. What I like most about this recipe is the fact that the cakes hold together really well- I think it’s the breadcrumbs. A half recipe made about 8, and I ate 1 while I was waiting for the rest of my dinner to finish, 3 with my chicken and brussels sprouts (duh), and the other 4 by themselves for dinner the next night. It was a personal patty party. And you should have one, too.

2. What I’m Raving About

IMG_0049

IMG_0050

As someone who frequently walks through rain puddles on campus, My Hunter boots are a life-saver. They’re durable, comfortable, and a chic addition to my typically distraught rainy-day ensembles. They’re an investment, but definitely worth it. However, since they’re real rubber, they develop a white powdery film after a while, which I honestly wasn’t too fond of. My sister has a matching pair, and hers were “blooming” as well, so we decided to split a bottle of Hunter Boot Buffer and shine our boots over spring break. I was super pleased with the results- they are as good as new! Also, the bottle is only $12, and both my sister and I used it and there is plenty left! You can see the before and after pictures above! Shiny boots just in time for April showers.

3. What I’m Wanting

gold pulse cuff

I’m mildly obsessed with this Gold Pulse Cuff from Baublebar. It’s simple enough to be great on its own or as part of a nice stack.  You may or may not know my story about my heart problems, but I think that’s why I love this so much!

4. What I’m Working On

instagram

Building my blog’s Instagram page. I have a really big vision for this little blog, most of which I don’t have time to get serious about until after graduation, but Instagram doesn’t require that much effort- I just have to live my life and remember to take pictures. Which is actually kind of hard for me. But anyways, I’m working on posting fresh content every day, and I would love for you to follow along with me at @sweetcatsblog!

5. Sass Queen of the Week

abby-lee-miller-gif

Abby Lee Miller, Dance Instructor and One-Liner Extraordinaire. She scares the crap out of me and I wouldn’t have lasted five minutes in her studio as a child, but as a young adult, she lights a fire under my butt and makes me want to make it to the top of the pyramid. Also I’m currently having Dance Moms withdrawals. Abby will most likely be back on this list soon.

That’s all I have for you this week. Enjoy your weekend, and figure out how to be the best.

Friday’s Five

Hey Cats!

Happy Friday! I hope all of you are staying warm! I personally am not, because it’s always freezing but never actually snowing here, so the roads are “safe” and we have to go to school. Well, we’re supposed to anyways. I may or may not have opted to conduct an independent Marketing 409 test review from the comfort of my own home yesterday. It’s fine.

Anyways, here’s what I’m loving this week:

1. Lipstick Tricks from Cupcakes & Cashmere

lipstick8

For the past year or so, I have been sporadically incorporating lipstick into my makeup routine. I’m definitely not the type of girl to wear a bright red lip every day, but occasionally I like to play around with some color. However, makeup techniques are something I’ve never really mastered. But I’ve always wondered how other girls get their lipstick to stay on all day and just generally look great, because sometimes I feel like I look like a five-year old who found her mom’s makeup bag. I stumbled upon these great lipstick tricks from Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere, and I decided to try my hand at them. It’s a bit of a process, but it definitely made my lipstick look 10x better. I’ll be keeping this in mind the next time I feel like getting all dressed up!

2. Home Decor

adore magazine anna caldwell

As I’ve mentioned, home decor is one of my latest obsessions. I’m constantly finding things that catch my eye on Pinterest, and they all seem to have the same theme: clean white or neutral walls and furniture with gold and colorful accents. This particular photo, originally from The Pink Pagoda is a great combination of modern and traditional elements. I love the bold patterns on the rug, pillows, and lamp, and the combination of bright blue and hot pink is so happy and girly. But I think my favorite element of this set-up is the Oriental pottery. (I don’t know the proper term for it- I tried to find it on the Google, but found contradictory results) My mom has a few pieces of this, and I’ve always really loved it. I think it adds a vibrant yet timeless touch to any room, but I think it’s showcased especially well in this room. I’m already planning on adding some of this to my design once I have an apartment of my own!

3. The Whisking Kitchen

the-whisking-kitchen

I love discovering new blogs to read, and I especially love discovering new recipes, so when I found The Whisking Kitchen I was beside myself. I stumbled upon this piece of the internet through Elizabeth the author’s Instagram. I was scrolling through my “Discover” page and found a photo of a delightful-looking omelette and fresh fruit breakfast in bed, and was instantly captured. She just recently launched her blog, and I’m so excited to try some of the recipes! First on my list? This edamame salad, this Havarti-cheddar-bacon-rosemary grilled cheese (DEAD), and these blueberry muffins. Hop over to Elizabeth’s blog and find a few recipes you love, and then meet me back here for WorkIt Wednesday so we don’t all get fat.

4. Kate Spade for Kids

ks-for-kids

I know I don’t have children, and considering the fact that I’m supposed to be in class as I’m writing this, it’s going to be quite a while before that happens. But, Kate Spade has released a line of childrenswear and it’s beyond adorable. Lots of pink, glitter, and floral prints, all of which are absolutely perfect for a haute tot. I want to wear it myself, and to be honest, my sister and I have already talked about how we’re going to try.

5. A Dose of Sass

north-west-sassy-1

If there’s one thing I love, it’s a good sassy face, and through her recent appearances at fashion shows, my girl North West is proving to be quite the little sass queen. I look for great things from this one.

Friday’s Five

Hey Cats!

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a good week. Mine has been busy, but pretty good for a test week! I’m also looking forward to the weekend, even though I have my work cut out for me between school and job hunting! But it will be nice to at least stay in my pajamas all day.

Even though it’s been busy, I’ve still had plenty of time to pick out five faves this week. Here’s what I’m loving:

1. Taylor Swift’s Grammys Dress

Taylor-Swift-2015-Grammy-Awards-Red-Carpet-Fashion-Elie-Saab-Tom-Lorenzo-Site-TLO-2

Dear. Lord. This is perfect. The blue ombre is dazzling, the neckline is flawless, and you think it’s just another ball gown when SURPRISE- hidden mini skirt. Add the purple shoes and I can’t even deal with how wonderful it is anymore. I think Taylor is trying to tell us that she’ll never go out of style, and she’s right.

2. Hummus Crusted Chicken

hummus-crusted-chicken-1

Last week, I decided that after a months-long aversion to hummus (long story involving my mom and sister, Mediterranean food, and preschoolers), I should give it another chance. There were also a few recipes on Pinterest I wanted to try that involved hummus, including this hummus-crusted chicken from Gimme Some Oven. SO GOOD. I’ve made it every night that I’ve actually cooked ever since! I used plain hummus and sprinkled paprika over the top like the recipe calls for, and it’s just delightful. The hummus makes a crust that’s crunchy on the outside and creamy inside, and it’s surprisingly flavorful! One of my roommates made it as well, but she used spicy hummus, and said it was also really yummy. So hummus is back on my radar, and it should definitely be on yours, too.

3. Longchamp ‘Le Pliage’ Travel Bag

longchamp-travel-bag

I came across this Longchamp travel bag a few weeks ago, and the more I look at it, the more I love it. A new duffel is definitely on my Prioritized Purchase list, because I’m 22 and still carrying my high school cheer bag. It’s really roomy, but it’s probably time to be an adult and get some real luggage. I love my Longchamp Le Pliage handbag, so the idea of a travel bag in a similar shape is wonderful! Also, Longchamp bags are very durable, so it would definitely be worth the investment. Now if I could only decide on a color…

4. Kitchen Necessities for the Starter Apartment

kitchen-essentials

As we all know, I’m really excited about decorating my new apartment in an unknown city that I will pay for with a job I don’t yet have. But, it’s important not to forget the basics! I love this list from Blair Blogs of 9 Kitchen Essentials for your starter apartment. I have most of these things, but some are my roommates that I will definitely miss!

5. Comic Relief

on-time-ecard

I leave you with this, because some days you stop at Starbucks when you really don’t have time. And that’s okay.

Have a great weekend and Happy Valentine’s Day!

Friday’s Five

Hey Cats!

Happy Friday! I have both today and Monday off from work, so I’m super excited about this extra-long weekend! I’m going to blog, catch up with friends, and cry because the stuff on my syllabus looks dreadful. I really like school, but I’m honestly ready to be #done. Pray for me, I will need it. This isn’t to say that I’m not a little excited about school…it will be nice to get back into a routine, since all I’ve done over the break is lounge around. But I’m not sure I’m ready for how busy I’m going to be! I digress.

Anyways, here’s what I’m loving this week:

1.

The-Schlep-Dree-LV-nyc-636x423

Man Repeller has done it again. Their article on The Schlep is basically my life. I know I don’t live in NYC, but if you’ve ever seen me frantically walking across campus with my backpack, tote bag, and excessive outerwear, you know that I schlep. Especially in the winter, because it’s hard to carry everything when my arms are extra puffy from my coat and I can’t really move my head very well because my scarf is suffocating me. For example: on Wednesday, it was 39 degrees and I had to walk across campus to get to work. Naturally, I wore fleece leggings under my dress pants that need to be re-hemmed, a sweater, my long (knee-length on regular people, longer on me) coat, and a chunky scarf, and was lugging my work tote and purse. I kept tripping over my pants, my tote kept slipping off my shoulder, and my hair was blowing everywhere. Halfway there, it hit me. “Oh God, I am the Schlepper from Man Repeller.” Raise your hand if you’re not surprised. Schlep on, my friends.

2.

hidden-message-necklace

How awesome is this Hidden Message Necklace from Beth Macri Designs? At first glance it looks like three mixed-metal bars, which is pretty cool on its own. But from a different angle it shows a three-letter/character message- like a secret that only you know. Except I would show everyone because 1. It’s cool and 2. Secrets are not my strong point. It would be cute to do your initials (you people know I love anything personalized), or the initials of you and your significant other. I think you can do more than three letters, so the possibilities are endless! Just make sure your secret doesn’t get out of control.

3.

olsen-twins

The secret is out. Have you ever wondered about the Olsen twin’s signature “too vogue for you” face? Well thanks to Buzzfeed, now literally everyone knows.  I’m not going to lie, I knew this in high school. All of my friends and I did, and we would take “prunes” pictures at every major event because why wouldn’t we? Anyways, I’m definitely bringing this back, because when you can’t be an Olsen twin, you should pretend you are anyways.

4.

carrot-fires

I made these carrot fries for dinner last night and they were quite delicious. I bought matchstick carrots to put in salads, but I remembered that I had pinned this recipe, so I decided to try it out. You should definitely cook them on a higher heat like she suggests at the end, because I didn’t and some of them didn’t cook all the way through. But if you’re looking for something different for dinner, this is a yummy and easy option!

5.

barbie-n-friendz

It’s Barbie again. This Buzzfeed article may be from 2013, but that’s irrelevant. It shows the 11 Hottest Runway Trends inspired by 90’s Barbies, and it made. my. day. You really can’t go wrong when you combine Barbie with anything in the real world, at least not in my book. Also I definitely had the doll in the green overalls pictured above- her name was Skipper and I remember I wanted her because I LOVED the overalls/crop top combo, and I thought it made her look like Britney Spears. And some things never change.

Have a great weekend!

That’s all for meow!

Friday’s Five

Hey Cats!

Happy Friday! I’ve got a busy day ahead, with the dreaded eye doctor appointment, lunch at my favorite barbecue joint with my bestie, and some other errands on my to-do list. I think I’m going back to College Station in the middle of next week, and the last few days at home are always super busy! I’ll be sad to leave, but I’m excited to get back to Aggieland for one last semester (omg, no.). This week has flown by, but here’s what I’m loving:

1. BarbieStyle on Instagram

image1

Hi, this is not a joke. Barbie has an Instagram account, and it’s better than mine and probably all of yours as well. As a child, I loved Barbies. My sister and I had three enormous tubs full of them, complete with clothes, houses, and a Barbie-sized Porsche. Well, Barbie has grown up with me, and now shares her life on the social medias. THANK GOD. Whoever is in charge of this project (hello, dream job) acts like Barbie has a real life, which is a little creepy, but not enough to stop me from being completely obsessed and glean outfit inspiration from a fictional character. I mean, the girl has a Barbie-sized Birkin, “shops” at Barney’s, and eats cronuts, so she’s very on-trend. Follow it, love it, and don’t even be sorry about it.

2. An Elevator Speech How-To

With this being my last semester of college, networking and finding a job is something that’s constantly on my mind. I’ve interviewed for a few jobs and internships during college, so I’m somewhat comfortable with talking about my skills and abilities in that setting- though there’s definitely always room for improvement. However, something I need to work on is a short spiel that I can give on the fly in case I ever come in contact with someone in the industry I’m interested in. Earlier this week, Molly from A Piece of Toast shared this great article on composing an elevator speech, and it was very helpful! She addressed a few of my concerns, like having confidence in yourself even when you have little to no experience, and having to explain what exactly you do. If you’re looking for a job (or even if you’re not!), this is a crucial skill to develop.

3. Avocado Toast Recipes

SONY DSC

I found this collection of avocado toast recipes on Pinterest, and I’m dying to try them all. Avocado toast is so delish, and these combinations look like they would really spice things up. Also I believe that putting goat cheese on anything makes it 10x better, so that’ll probably be the first one I try.

4. Spring 2015 Colors

pantone colors 2015

We talked about Marsala last Friday, but here is the complete Pantone Color Report for Spring 2015. I love that most of the colors aren’t too pastel, but are very rich hues. Also, who gets to name these colors, and how can I get that job?

5. A Cat for Good Measure

Wrapping it up with this little kitten who wants you all to have a wonderful weekend. Don’t let him down.

Friday’s Five

Hey Cats!

Happy Friday! I hope those of you who went shopping yesterday survived and found something that made it worth your trip. My mom and I went to the mall, and it was like feeding time at the zoo. They were having a mega sale on boots at Dillard’s and all of the boxes were stacked on tables that reached far beyond the shoe department. People were digging through the piles like they were looking for hidden treasure (which I guess they were), throwing stuff around, pushing people out of the way, and grabbing things from each other. It reminded me of in Mean Girls when Cady Heron would imagine how things would be settled in the animal world, and I almost had a panic attack. I bought one sweater and then ran away before things got out of hand. Anyways, here’s what I’m loving this week:

1. Marsala as Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year

marsala-pantone

This could be considered old news, but whatever. Pantone, the “world-renowned authority on color” (I am the world-renowned authority on tacos, FYI.) named Marsala as the Color of the Year for 2015. This red-brown hue is kind of earthy, but it’s almost jewel tone-y as well, which I love. If you aren’t convinced, as I was not, check out this intro spread on the Pantone website, and see how rich and dramatic Marsala is in your wardrobe, decor, and even on your plate! Pair it with grays, taupes, deep blues, and golds for the best results.

2.Yoga

This past semester, I got into a really great habit of going to the gym almost every day, and it got to the point where I HAD to go to be able to do anything else that day. However, once I got home for Christmas break, I didn’t have that luxury, and it’s been driving me absolutely insane. I tried running outside, but I’m kind of a wimp and I don’t like the cold. So I haven’t exercised in almost two weeks and sometimes I cry when I think about how long it’s going to take me to get back to where I was before I came home, not a joke. I did go to yoga with my sister the other day, and I loved it! I’ve done Pilates, but never yoga, and I really enjoyed it! I think I’m going to try and add that into my regular workout routine one or two days a week.

3. Quinoa Salad Recipes

Since we’re talking about things I’m having withdrawals from, let’s add quinoa to the list. I just really love it, and I would eat it nearly every night with some form of roasted vegetable and chicken while I was at school. I love my mom’s food, but after all of the holiday foods, I only want quinoa and roasted brussels sprouts. Also if you can’t tell by now, I really love routine and have a very hard time with change, even with my food. Ever since a lady behind me at Salata put quinoa in her salad, I have been obsessed with the combination of the grain and leafy greens, so I was really pleased when I came across this collection of quinoa salad recipes on Pinterest. Some of them are a little too much for me, but there are quite a few I’m wanting to try!

4. A Healthy Dose of Side-Eye

You know I live for perfectly-timed expressions of sass, so I was beside myself when I came across this list of the Most Important Celebrity Side-Eyes of 2014 whilst bumbling along my Twitter feed. From Kate to North, they’re all perfect, and I can’t decide which one is my favorite. Keep up the good work, ladies. Keep it up.

5. Trivia Crack

Trivia-Crack-Feature

Last winter break it was QuizUp, this time it’s Trivia Crack that’s ruining my life and turning me into an anti-social blob. Something about answering random questions correctly just fills me with joy and makes me remember every history/science/geography class I’ve ever taken. It’s a massive waste of time, but my friend Kinsey said that it’s making us smarter, so that’s just what I’ll keep telling myself.

Have a great weekend, and be sure to practice your side-eye and take a small break from Trivia Crack at some point.

That’s all for meow!
