Father’s Day Gift Guide

Hey Cats!

Did anyone else have a rough time getting going this week? Because I did. I was nearly late to work yesterday because I was being a slowpoke and just wanted to crawl back in bed. It also didn’t help that I couldn’t decide what to wear, and tried on about four different outfits before I gave up because I had five minutes to do my hair and makeup. Hashtag Monday. But it’s Tuesday and I went to bed super early last night, so I should have it together today, but stay tuned.

As do all important holidays, Father’s Day snuck up on me this year. Did you know it’s June 22? It is. That’s a little under 3 weeks from now… yikes! Also, my dad’s birthday is the 24th, so I’m probably just going to order both gifts at the same time. My dad and I are besties, and I always like to get him something special, and now that I actually have a job, I can buy him something a little nicer than a belt or a tie. Here are a few things I’m considering:

fishing-shirt

Dads love fishing shirts, like this Columbia shirt from Academy.  I would totally get my dad one of these, but he has like, at least five. I know he would probably love another one, but I think this is what I’ve gotten him for the past couple of years. I think dads like these because they can wear them basically anywhere. To the lake, to a football game, or even a casual dinner. I mean, I even have a couple myself. Everyone loves these. Buy matching ones for you and your dad for extra points.

boot-bag

My dad has quite the collection of boots, something we have in common. We all hate traveling with boots, because they take up so much space, and if they get dirty (which is inevitable), you don’t want to put them back in your suitcase. If your dad likes to lug his Luccheses whenever he goes on a trip, this boot bag from Jon Hart is an excellent choice. You can even personalize it, which if you think I love monogramming my own objects, imagine how much I love monogramming gifts for others…about 5x as much.

SCHEDULE.0

Another great option is football tickets, or tickets to another sporting event. My parents have season tickets to Aggie games, but I am considering getting my dad tickets to a Rice game (not sure if my dad reads my blog, but if he does I may have just ruined the surprise. So oops.), since he played football at Rice, and now that I live in Houston, it would be an easy trip!

My dad is a real estate agent, so he always carries business cards. I’ve almost bought him this business card case from Marley Lilly three different times, but I always run out of time to order it! I think it would be a good way for him to keep track of his cards when he’s out and about!

What are you thinking about getting your dad for father’s day? Let me know!

Gift Guide- Best Friends

Hey Cats!

Christmas is COMING! I literally can’t believe it’s already December. This semester has absolutely flown by, but at the same time I feel like I haven’t had any down time in forever. I think staying in College Station over the summer has gotten me all sorts of confused. I digress. But really, it’s already December and as if finals weren’t enough to stress about, I have yet to decide for sure what I’m getting anyone for Christmas, let alone purchase anything. Also, since I have an actual income, I want to buy my family and friends something nice that I actually want to get  them, not just something that I bought because I could afford it.

It’s easy to buy for my friends, because I just buy things I would like. This also goes for my sister, but I know not everyone is basically twins with their sister, so for all intents & purposes, this is a “best friends gift list”. Here are a few things I have my eye on:

i_woke_up_like_this_via_ashley_brooke_designs_small_grande

First, I’m loving this mug from Ashley Brooke Designs. She has a wide variety of sayings for all types of friends, but I’m loving this little quip for some of my sassier, coffee-drinking friends.

personalized_notepad_large

Next is this personalized notepad from Design Darling. While I love a good monogram, I think the full name is a refreshing touch to this stationery. This would be perfect for your friend with a busy schedule and a list-making tendency, and would make an adorable addition to a home or office desk.

marley lilly tervis

Another great option is this monogrammed travel tumbler from Marley Lilly. I have one similar to this, and it’s great for bringing an extra cup of coffee to work or school on early mornings! This is great for your friend who’s always on-the-go.

i can't bracelet baublebar

Finally, this sassy bracelet from BaubleBar is a perfect addition to your snarky pal’s stacked wrist. If you say this more than once a day, you should probably buy it. There are also a few more trendy sayings if you’re one of those girls who actually can even. But I’m not.

What are you buying your besties this Christmas? Let me know!

Wednesday Pins-Day

Hey Cats!

Happy Wednesday! For some of you, that means that the work week is half over, and for me that means I only have four days left at home, and four days to find and pack up all my stuff for school. It’s a daunting task, so that’s why I’m blogging instead of actually doing it. As you know, Pinterest is another one of my favorite ways to waste time, and I’ve come across a few gems lately that I would love to share with you!

cupcake holder pin First is this fantastic idea from imgfave. What a cute way to give someone a little treat! I once put cupcakes in a tall, clear, plastic glass covered with cling wrap, and it was handy and kind of cute, but this is much better. I’ll definitely have to remember this the next time I feel inclined to whip up an enormous batch of cupcakes.

cher and dad

Because I just love Cher Horowitz and Clueless, and I feel like this is a conversation I’ve had with my own dad.

DIY shorts

This pin led me to an article on Fashion Diva Design with oodles of ideas on how to make your own shorts like those above, and how to re-purpose old denim shorts! This reminded me that I’ve been wanting to make a pair of cutoffs for two summers now, so maybe I’ll get on that.

pink pin room

This ultra-glam bedroom inspiration from my home lookbook is to die for. I’m loving the simple white, black, and cream with hot pink and mirrored accents! I wish my bedroom was this chic.

coasters

These fabulous monogrammed paperboard coasters from Neiman Marcus. These would make the perfect gift for a newly married couple (I don’t know why I said that, I know a total of 2 of those) or for yourself.

funny

Last but certainly not least, this. School is upon us, and I’m soon to turn into a new type of beast. Joy.

What are your favorite pins from this week?
