Friday’s Five

Hey Cats!

I’m coming to you live from my home office! I technically have the day off, but I have to answer calls from home today. To be honest, I’m a little nervous, because I won’t have all my files or anything to help me. But I’m sure I’ll get through it! I was so excited to sleep later, and I went to bed around 11, which is pretty early for me. This short week has been wonderful, and I’m excited for the holiday weekend! But anyways, on to the good stuff. Here’s what I’ve been loving this week:

1. Golden

gold-paint

Considering yesterday’s post, you already know that I love gold spray paint. It’s a cheap, easy way to add a little glam to your home! This post from You Put It On has quite a few ideas to make your house a gold mine, from candles to magnets and things in-between! I definitely have a few extra projects in mind after reading this.

2. Tassels

bauble-bar-tassels

These Acid Tassel Drop earrings from Baublebar are to die for. I’ve been wanting some tassel earrings since last summer, but I haven’t worked up the bravery to buy any, simply because I’m not sure if I’ll actually wear them. However, this seems to be the summer of statement earrings, so it’s only a matter of time.

3. Brownies

BrownieFeature

These Slutty Brownies  from What’s Gaby Cooking (my latest food obsession) are calling my name. I am D Y I N G to make them, but obviously I can’t just make a pan of these for only me, because fat. The Bible study I’ve been going to is having a girl’s night, and I’m thinking about making them then. So stay tuned, because I will definitely be sharing them with you if I do.

4. A Cinderella Story

cinderella-story

I found this wonderful Buzzfeed quiz that tests your knowledge of A Cinderella Story, the ultimate 2000’s chick flick. I made a 100 (duh), and if you don’t, literally never talk to me again because we obviously have nothing in common.

5. Abby Lee Miller

Walk into your 4th of July party like this, everyone will LOVE. IT. This is how to win friends and influence others. Trust.

Enjoy your weekend, trolls. Abby Lee and I sure will.

Jewelry- My Essential 5

Hey Cats!

Happy Thursday! I’m so excited, because not only am I going home this weekend, but tonight I’m going to see the Backstreet Boys and Avril Lavigne! The summer after I graduated from high school, I went to see the Backstreet Boys when they toured with NKOTB with my friends Kinsey and Emma, and it was everything. I can’t wait to see my boys again- and Avril Lavigne is a special treat so I can relive my brief fifth-grade punk bad girl phase (don’t ask).

It’s no secret that I love my jewelry, and I love to mix it up every day depending on what I’m wearing. I shared my everyday jewelry a few months ago, but the other day I was thinking, “If I could only have five pieces of jewelry, what would they be?” If that ever happens I don’t know what I’ll do with myself, but it was definitely interesting to think about. It took me a while to come up with only five things I couldn’t part with- some were obvious, but some took a little more thought. Here’s what I came up with!

First are my pearls. Technically this is two pieces, but it’s my hypothetical situation so I get to make the rules. Pearl earrings and a necklace are typically thought of as a set, so it still counts as just one. I got my pearls the Christmas after I turned 18- it’s a tradition in my family. I love my pearls because they’re a classic, and a perfect, Southern addition to nearly any ensemble.

watch

Next is my Michael Kors watch. I wear this every day, whether I’m wearing a dress or just Nike shorts and a tee shirt. It’s a classic piece, and it’s a staple in my jewelry box- I couldn’t go without it!

cross necklace black

Next is my dainty, sideways cross necklace. I love this because it’s a great reminder of my faith, and also because it’s so dainty. It can stand alone or be layered- very versatile!

cat earrings

I also chose my favorite cat earrings. It’s no secret that I love kitties, and I actually have quite the collection of cat-themed jewelry. What I love about these studs is that they’re whimsical yet practical. They’re a fun shape, but a classic color with a little sparkle. I typically wear these when I’m wanting something simple.

Last, I chose my Aggie ring. Duh. It’s the most valuable piece of jewelry I own, mostly because it cost me 90 hours of studying, sweat, and tears. It represents one of my greatest accomplishments and it’s something I’m very proud of. I also think that it’s beautiful- shiny gold with intricate detailing and a diamond in the center. Out of all the jewelry I own, this is definitely my favorite.

What are your essential 5? Let me know!

Monday’s Musings

Hey Cats!

I know that the last thing I posted was also a Monday’s Musings post, but things happen- or don’t happen. The only really exciting thing I did was eat my weight in creamy jalapeno dip at Chuy’s with my prayer group in the middle of the week, so Friday’s Five would have been incredibly dull. In order to redeem myself, however, I have literally everything in my life happening this week, so get excited.

What I’m mostly looking forward to is Friday at 5:15 when I FINALLY get my Fightin’ Texas Aggie Ring! The Aggie ring is a huge tradition at Texas A&M, and one of my favorites. I will be the seventh person in my family to earn one, starting with my grandfather in 1941. Not only is this important because of my family, but because of the values the ring and the University stands for.

I have been looking forward to this day ever since I decided to become an Aggie. Sometimes I can’t believe I’m old enough to be getting my ring, but other times when I look back on the blood, sweat, tears, and 90 hours I endured to earn it, I’m more than ready for my little piece of gold. So, as I go through this week, I will be thinking about how much I love this University, how I have enjoyed my time here, and how honored I am to be able to wear the symbol of the Greatest University in the World.

DIY-Glitter Perfume Plate

Hey Cats!

As I mentioned, last weekend I went down to College Station to visit my friend Ashley! We decided to craft while we watched Real Housewives, but we weren’t sure what to make, so we went to HobLob and wandered aimlessly until we stumbled upon the best invention ever: glitter paint. We’ve all seen the “glitter everything!” tutorials on Pinterest, but you have to use ModPodge and it sounds like a mess I don’t really have time for. But with glitter paint, you just brush it on and you have instant sparkle! Ashley decided to paint a Mason jar for her desk, and I chose a plate to put my perfume on!
Here’s what you’ll need:

-Glitter Paint (We used DecoArt Glamour Dust in Champagne from Hobby Lobby)

glitta paint

-A clear glass plate (Hobby Lobby for under $5), Mason jar, or other glass object
-Paintbrush (obviously)

Here’s what you do:
1. Prepare your workspace with newspaper (Or the paper they wrapped your glass in) so you don’t get glitta on the table. Not that that would be too tragic.
2. Paint! I painted the underside of the rim of my plate, so it would be smooth and so I wouldn’t chip the paint. It takes quite a few coats, and make sure it dries well between coats, or else it will smear and be less than stellar.

This is the finished product!

I plan to put this on the counter in my bathroom to display my perfume and store my everyday jewelry!

I think it would be cool to make a few of these and use them for chargers for a brunch or shower! Also, I plan to get another bottle of Glamour Dust (I just love that name) and glitter everything in sight. It’s like a dream come true! How will you use glitter paint to add a little sparkle to your life?

Outfit of the Day- Summertime Scarf & Shorts

Hey Cats!

During the summer, I live in solid tees and JCrew shorts! I usually wear them by themselves, but tonight I decided to dress it up a bit!

photo (11)

I started with a simple white tee from Old Navy and black chino shorts from JCrew Factory. I added my favorite scarf from Target for a pop of neon, and finished the look with my turquoise Elle earrings from Kendra Scott and these fabulous gold glitter smoking slippers, also from Target (I got them a while ago, so they don’t have them anymore!)
