Wish List

Hey Cats!

It’s getting to that point of Christmas break where I am Over. It. and beyond ready to have something productive to do with my time. Know what I did yesterday? I ate candy and sat at my desk trying to write a blog post for five plus hours, straightened my hair, went to the gym, and then teared up at multiple articles titled “Things you MUST do your last semester of college”.

Help.

Amidst all of those wonderful activities, I came across a few items I’ll definitely be needing in my closet in the near future, so I decided to share them with you. Think of this as a list of things I’ll be rewarding myself with throughout the semester for various achievements such as good grades or not skipping class for an entire week (hey- senior year is hard).

1. Barrington Monogram Stripe St. Anne Tote

Okay, hi, I will be buying this as soon as I get paid, not even a joke. You know I’m obsessed with Barrington totes, and the other day I stumbled upon their new Monogram Stripe Collection and I just about died. The second I have the option to put my name or initials on something, I instantly need it. This bag reminds me a lot of the monogrammed Louis Vuitton bags, but this one is a much more cost-efficient option. As usual, I love the size, color, and durability of this tote, and it’s #1 on my Prioritized Purchase List.

2. I Can’t Even tank

I love a good graphic tee, so when I came across this tank on Thug Life Shirts, I got really excited. I was thinking that I could wear it to the gym, but then I was worried if people would stare, but then I remembered that I often wear my tank that says “YOLO” and has a picture of Drake as the RL Polo man to the gym, so I could definitely pull this off. Buying it.

3. LAUREN by Ralph Lauren Loafers

RL-loafers

I had such inner turmoil about these loafers when I was trying to decide how to spend my Christmas money. My sister has a very similar pair, and she wears them with everything, and we like to be twins so I really wanted a pair for myself. However, I was also dying for short brown booties, but I could only afford one pair. I couldn’t decide which one was the better investment, so I decided to buy whichever ones I found first that were the right size and the right price. The booties won (and I love them), but I still have my heart set on these. One day, my friends. One day.

4. JCrew Factory Pleated Mini

Since I will no longer be going to school and work on the same day, I’m feeling compelled to not wear jeans to work every day. This skirt from JCrew Factory would be perfect with tights and boots and a sweater for winter, and would also pair well with a chambray and flats in the spring! I love the camel color- it’s a new favorite neutral!

5. Meme Alphabet Bracelet from BaubleBar

baublebarbraceletYou may remember this little gem from a previous post, and I’m still obsessed. Once I decide which one I want, this BaubleBar bracelet will probably become an impulse purchase on a Friday night when I’m tired of homework and have nothing better to do with my time.

What’s on your wish list right now? Let me know!

Monday’s Musings

Hey Cats!

It’s Monday again! I hope everyone had a good weekend- I know I did! I had a pretty quiet Friday night, due to the flash flood that hit College Station right as my roommate and I were driving home from dinner. That gave me the perfect excuse to break out the yoga pants and long-sleeved tee and curl up with with a cup of tea and a few articles on family & health communication and media audiences. Yes, I did homework on Friday night, but it had to be done. Then on Saturday morning, I slept in and went shopping with my roommates before my parents came into town for the Rice game. It was a pretty good game, but it was a super late night! On Sunday we went to church, and my parents took me grocery shopping, which is always my favorite.

This week I decided to change the tune of Monday’s Musings. I feel like my last few have been more on the serious side, so I decided to have some fun. I came across this graphic on Pinterest, and I’m obsessed.

workin' for a birkin

First of all, I like this a lot better than Twerkin’ For a Birkin, because I would never be caught dead twerking, even for a Birkin. Although a Birkin isn’t quite on my Prioritized Purchase List (yes, that’s a real thing that I have), the sentiment is the same. As of right now, I only have Tory Burch Reva flats on that list, because I recently purchased the other items (Kendra Scott earrings & a “big girl” purse), but I’m sure I can find something to add to it. The point is, I love working because (among many other reasons) it allows me to invest in the things I want. It also makes me feel like a grown-up to know that I’m working for the things I want, which makes them much more of a treat- and much larger of a decision! Hopefully one day I’ll be workin’ for a Birkin, but for now I’ll just stick to things within my college-girl budget.

In My Closet- The Everyday Handbag

Hey Cats!

Happy Thursday! It’s been a short week- yay! I’m definitely looking forward to the weekend, and I get to see my family on Sunday, so that’s exciting!

“In My Closet”  is a series where I feature a piece that I personally own that I believe is a staple in the wardrobe of a fashion-forward young woman. Today, we’re talking purses. I used to be a huge purse girl, but since I’ve been in college that’s changed- I’ve been carrying the same one since my freshman year!  I have an extensive collection of handbags at my parents’ house, from my Dooney & Bourke I got when I turned thirteen (my first “It Bag”), to the Juicy Couture monstrosity I saved months of babysitting money to buy, to the various other colorful totes I carried in high school. However these days I tend to carry the same bag every single day, unless I’m feeling crazy or going out or to a football game, or anywhere where it would be too fussy to carry a large handbag.

longchamp

I bought this Longchamp Small Le Pliage bag in Slate with my graduation money after I graduated from high school, and I’ve carried it ever since. It was (and still kind of is) a “college girl” bag, and I was so excited about it. I love the classic shape and color; although it was a big trend at the time, it’s actually quite a timeless addition to my closet. Another thing I love about this bag is that it’s incredibly durable. I’ve carried this bag across campus through the rain, filled it to the brim, dropped it in the grass, and (gasp) set it on the ground countless times. It’s never ripped, and aside from a few stains on the bottom and a little wear on the straps, it still looks pretty good. Also, I can fit literally everything I need inside. I always have a small first aid kit, my wallet, a small notepad, and tons of other crap really important things like receipts and grocery lists. In fact, just last week I shoved an umbrella and a pair of heels inside for my ‘commute’ to work. It’s like my mom bag, except I’m definitely not a mom. It’s my single-girl bag. Honestly, I’ll probably be carrying this until it falls apart. It’s definitely no small purchase, but Lois Longchamp (yes, I named her) has been with me for three years now, and it doesn’t look like she’s giving up anytime soon. Every girl needs a dependable everyday handbag in her closet- I would definitely suggest a Longchamp, but if that’s not your style, just be sure it’s a neutral that blends well with anything, is durable, and is a bottomless pit for all your everyday necessities.
