Hey Cats!

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I went to the pool twice, slept in, got sub-par pedicures with my besties, and  bought the cutest flamingo tee, so I would say it was a success. But today it’s back to work!

In a few weeks, I’m headed to Florida on vacation with two of my friends, and I’m beside myself with excitement! This is my first big trip with just my friends, so it should be tons of fun! Not to mention I love the beach. I’ve had months to procure the perfect pieces to stuff into my suitcase, and I’ve honestly probably spent way too much money. But whatever. Here’s what will be in my bag:

SWIM:

 FullSizeRender (4)

I tried so hard to find a new swimsuit for this trip, but I couldn’t find anything I liked. But I have plenty of suits from past summers that I still love, so it’s okay! I’m bringing my monogrammed bandeau from Marley Lilly paired with coral bottoms, which is probably my favorite swimsuit ever. I’m also bringing a one piece, since one pieces are in right now. I’ve had this one since high school so obviously it’s no longer available, but I’m loving this palm print, this simple blue, and this bright Mara Hoffman suit! My third suit is from Old Navy and also is no longer available, but this one is really similar!

BEACH ACCESSORIES

I bought this monogrammed floppy hat for two reasons: my Kentucky Derby-themed Junior League party this week and the beach. They have so many fun colors, but I chose blue because it matches my Lilly dress I’m wearing to the event (insert hair flip emoji). It also matches my cover-up! I’m loving the simple white with blue stitching! I bought it at Forever 21, but unfortunately can’t find it online (I did see one in the store this weekend!), but I’m loving this similar option, this similar color scheme, or this colorful caftan!

CASUAL OUTFITS

FullSizeRender (5)

We’re planning on going to do lots of fun things like snorkeling and riding jet skis, so honestly I will probably be wearing Norts and a tee for those activities. But I will need a few cute outfits, of course! I’m bringing my new flamingo tee paired with my favorite boyfriend shorts, which will be perfect for exploring! I’m also bringing my leopard shorts and black tank, which will be great for a casual dinner. Of course, I can’t forget this integral part of my romper collection. It’s Lilly for Target (from the kid’s section), but I love this Lilly Pulitzer option, this solid blue, and this cute print!

GOING OUT ATTIRE

I don’t anticipate going out too much, except for fancy dinner one night. But we’re still three weeks out and I cannot decide for the life of me what outfit to bring! It’s a stressor for me right now. I’m loving this striped romper (similar options here, here, and here) and nude heel combo, but I’m also loving the below options!

FullSizeRender (7)

I bought this black romper a few months back and I’m in love! I think it’s definitely going to be a staple this summer. There’s also my bird dress that I’m obsessed with and am always looking for excuses to wear. P.S., if birds aren’t your thing but you still want to wear something out of the box, try this dress! It’s on my “to buy” list for sure.

So that’s it! Those are the only pieces I’m taking to the beach. And if you believe that, you obviously don’t know me. What are your beach essentials? Let me know!

That’s all for meow!

WorkIt Wednesday- Get Out of My Face.

Hey Cats!

As we speak, I’m catching up on The Bachelor, since it’s during my sorority meetings on Monday nights. It’s only been about ten minutes, but all I have to say is that these girls are super trashy. I’m not even sorry, and if it turns out like Juan Pablo’s season I may have to stop watching. I mean, that’s probably an empty threat, but please class it up, ladies. I digress.

Today on WorkIt Wednesday, we’re going to talk about my hair. And a little bit about yours, but mostly mine. I like to believe that I have really nice hair, and I like to wear it down most of the time. However, there is nothing more annoying than having it all in your face when you’re trying to be active. For eample, when I was a cheerleader, we would sometimes wear our hair down and straight to basketball games, because you know, everyone cared about how we looked standing in the corner squealing and dodging referees. I just remember a few times where I threw tumbling passes and thought I was going to DIE because my hair whipped over my eyes and I couldn’t see which way was up and everything was moving so fast. Ever since then, I’ve been a little judgy when I see girls with their hair down at the gym. I mean, your hair looks great, but does it not inhibit your workout? Maybe it’s just me, but I like my gym hair like I like anyone’s sass but my own- out of my face.

Here are some of my favorite accessories for a few different hair situations at the gym:

1. Clean Hair

I get it. Sometimes it’s Day 1, and you don’t want a ponytail bump or headband crease. On these days, I’ll just pull my hair back with an extra stretchy hair elastic, like these from Ulta. I like these because they don’t give me a ponytail bump, and they hold pretty well, too.

Sometimes I leave it at a ponytail, but other times I need a headband so the wispies don’t get in my way. I’ll wear a loose-fitting, cloth headband so my hair doesn’t get too greasy, and so I don’t get a headband crease! I have a similar pair of headwraps from Icing, and they’re great for keeping your hair out of the way but still allowing you to wear it down the next day!

2. Day 2 Hair

This is when you’re going to wash your hair before you have to look presentable again. I usually use one of the hair ties above, and pull my hair back with a thin headband. These from Under Armour are my favorites, because they have grips on the reverse side that keep them from sliding down your face while you’re running, because that poses a real problem.

3. Day 3 Hair

This typically occurs on a Saturday, when you definitely should have washed your hair the night before, but you either went out or you just didn’t feel like it, and your hair is greasy and beyond ratchet. The only option for this day? Put on a hat and cover that mess up. This is also a good option for when you don’t want to talk to anyone: just pull the brim down low enough and go on about your day. I have quite a few hats that I wear, mostly with a Texas A&M logo, but my favorite is my monogrammed camo hat from Mandy’s Monograms. It says “I’m pretty cute, but I’m also not messing around”.

So there you have it. Multiple ways to keep your luscious locks out of your face whilst breaking a sweat. Now that I’ve shared this with you, you have no reason to be “that girl” whose hair is the only thing getting a workout. Learn it, love it, live it. And it’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to #werkIt.

Review- Mandy Monograms Hat

Hey Cats!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted- school has definitely been keeping me busy, along with quite a few Aggie football games, trips, and special visitors! I just finished my second round of tests and now have a break for a couple of weeks, so maybe I will have a bit more time on my hands to blog!

A few weeks ago, I ordered a monogrammed cap from Mandy’s Monograms on Etsy. I have been wanting a monogrammed camouflaged hat for months, and I finally found one that I loved! It was about $21 with shipping, so it was a great deal! The camo print isn’t just right, not too country, not too cartoon-looking, and I loved the hot pink thread option. (You can get basically any color, but the pink was my fave!). I ordered the hat with the block monogram rather than script, but I was sent the script. I was a little upset at first, so I contacted Mandy, and she was more than willing to send me a new one. However, I decided that I liked the script better, since it made the hat look more feminine.

This is a great hat to throw on when you’re running late and haven’t had time to fix your hair before class! Also, if the opportunity ever prevents itself to go hunting or participate in some other outdoor activity, this would be the perfect accessory! I’m very pleased with my purchase, and if you’re looking for a monogrammed hat, I would suggest Mandy’s Monograms!

Beach Essentials

Hey Cats!

My family and I are at the beach this week! I love the beach, so it’s great to be in the sun and have a small break from work! Today was our first full day, and it was absolutely perfect. I personally am not one to lay out on the beach all day- I like to play in the water and catch waves with my dad and sister! I always like to wear a hat at the beach, partly because it protects me from the sun, but mostly because it just makes me feel fabulous. I tried to find a floppy straw hat (Unfortunately I dropped mine in the ocean the last time we were at the beach and it’s ruined.), but it was impossible! I reluctantly settled for a fedora, which I kind of can’t believe since I have loathed them forever- but now, I love it! it’s not as big as a floppy hat, so I don’t have to worry about it getting in my way as much! While at Target purchasing the fedora, I came across the perfect beach nail polish, and it was on sale! This is Sally Hansen Insta-Dry in Man-go Team! My sister and I are both using it this week! And you know about my oversized round sunglasses that I got instead of the $290 Prada frames I loved. (I have news about this-coming soon!) All three of these items are essentials for my trip to the beach!

Everything pictured is from Target (of course).

Are you going on vacation this summer? Where are you going and what can you not live without while you’re there?

Perfecting the Pool Tote

Hey Cats!

Now that it’s summer, I am at the pool in my neighborhood just about every day. In fact, I currently have a lovely pool perm from an after-dinner swim with my family! When I go during the day, I tend to camp out and stay for a few hours, which means I can’t just grab a towel and run- I need supplies! I also really like to be prepared for any situation, so it kind of freaks me out to not have things I might need. Over the past few summers, I have become a self-proclaimed expert at pool-tote packing. Here’s my list for a perfectly stocked bag!

First of all, you should start with a bag. Obviously. This bag should be big enough to keep all of your stuff in, but not too large to where you can’t handle it. It should also be durable and easy to clean, since it will be outside near water and dirt and children and heat. Also there’s a 100% guarantee your sunscreen will leak at least once in your life. I’ve had my bag for a few years, I actually used it in lieu of a backpack one year in high school. But I don’t really want to talk about that. It’s a big, Kate Landry tote made of vinyl and coated leather. It’s starting to show a little wear, but it’s lasted a really long time, and everything fits!

Image

So now that you have the perfect bag, it’s time to fill it up! You should include

-A beach towel. Duh. I like mine fluffy and long enough to lay on my lounge chair!

-Tanning oil/sunscreen. Because melanoma would be sad.

-Your favorite pair of trendy sunnies

-A floppy hat for days you feel like being a diva. (Every day for me)

-Lip balm, because I always want it at the pool.

-A small pouch to store jewelry. You don’t want to lose a Tory stud in the pool like I did. (They were from Chinatown and I found it, but it was a terrifying twenty minutes.)

-Reading material. Either a magazine or a novel, depending on whether you’re wanting light reading or not.

-A cover-up for to and from the pool. Please don’t be that girl. Be appropriate. This can range from a cute tunic to an oversized sorority tank and shorts. I like to use both, depending on whichever is clean how I’m feeling that day.

-A hair tie and/or a headband. After-pool hair is always kind of a mess and needs to be tamed. I like leaving mine down and wearing a stretchy headband and letting it be free and wild. You decide what works best for your locks!

-A bottle of water. It’s easy to get dehydrated in the sun, so bring a couple! Even if you have a snowcone or Sonic happy hour, bring water, too!

-A snack. I always get hungry at the pool. I like Goldfish or granola bars, nothing too heavy or that melts.

-The pool key. It’s a sad day when you get all the way to the pool and realize you’ve left the key at home.

So there you have it! What necessities do you have in your pool bag?

Until next time!
