Julep’s Transition to Fall

Hey Cats!

Happy Tuesday! I am so happy to have the day off of work- even if it is to study for my tests this week. But I plan to stay in my pajamas until I have to go to class (and maybe even when I go to class…jokes, I’ll put on yoga pants) and enjoy some rare time at home.

I was recently contacted  by Julep to create a fall transition outfit inspired by their new fall shades, and was so excited to participate! If there’s two things I love, it’s color-coordination and nail polish. The color that immediately caught my eye was Claudette, a rich, oxblood color. I thought it would pair perfectly with my maroon pants and a neutral sweater to ease into fall! I added riding boots because I spend March-October staring longingly at mine that are tucked away on the top shelf of my closet, and I’m always dying to wear them!  Also, after I finished putting this look together, I came across Roc Solid, a creamy forest green that would look great with these pants!

Sideline Sass Boutique

Hey Cats!

I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day this weekend- I know I did! My roommates and I went to dinner Friday night, and on Saturday I went to an Aggie baseball game with some of my friends. I’ll be honest- baseball isn’t exactly my favorite sport (I told one of my guy friends that it was the first time I’d ever stayed all nine innings at a baseball game and he was appalled). However, Aggie baseball is a different experience- the student section is quite hilarious.

My all-time favorite college sport is Aggie football, obviously. I’ve been lucky to witness some exciting things since I came to Texas A&M in the Fall of 2011- the move to the SEC, a shocking win over #1 ranked Alabama in 2012, and, of course, Johnny Manziel. There’s nothing that compares to gameday in Aggieland, and one of my favorite parts of gameday is getting dressed up. For real.

Ever since we entered the SEC, gameday style has gotten increasingly more formal. My freshman year I would wear Nike shorts and a maroon tee shirt, but the tables have definitely turned! Unfortunately, it’s really challenging to find Aggie maroon. There’s raspberry, crimson, and red galore, but if you find something that fits in true Aggie maroon, it’s a poor choice to not buy it immediately. I recently stumbled across Sideline Sass, an Aggie-owned online boutique that carries a variety of affordable gameday attire- in the right maroon- it’s a miracle!

Some of my favorites:

maroon shorts

These Must Be Maroon shorts are definitely a staple for August and September games. I love the fun, floral pattern on these, it definitely dresses them up!

maroon sweater

Next is this Knit Together sweater. I love the solid panels on the shoulders mixed with the variegated body. This would be a great option for cooler, night games.

maroon dress

I also love this Flash Back dress. Dresses are by far my favorite game day outfits, simply because they’re effortless, yet still put together.

In addition to these and more maroon pieces, Sideline Sass has a wide array of clothing and accessories for many different styles and tastes. So if you’re an Aggie girl looking for gameday wear, or if you’re just looking for unique pieces to add to your closet, head over to Sideline Sass!

Passion for Pashminas

Hey Cats!

One of my favorite things about winter is wearing scarves, partially because of the warmth factor, but mostly because of the added interest they lend to any outfit. From chunky knitted infinity scarves, to thin, patterned linen squares, the possibilities are endless! My favorite type of scarf, however, is a Pashmina. Pashmina is a type of fabric made of fine cashmere wool from the pashmina goat (consider this your educational fact of the day- you’re welcome.), and they are SO soft and luxe. I’m mildly obsessed, if you can’t tell. As a matter of fact, my friend Sarah was wearing a super cute outfit complete with a gray pashmina at church a few weeks ago, and before thinking about how it sounded I said, “I LOVE your scarf, now I have to go find a gray pashmina to add to my collection- I have a passion for pashminas.” Luckily, she knows I’m a little strange, so she wasn’t too fazed by my gushing, but it could have been bad. But really, how can you not love these silky shawls? They’re cozy, luxurious, and come in every color under the rainbow (and even patterns)! It’s my dream to have one large enough to wrap myself in and doze off.

pashminas

I have a few pashminas in a variety of colors, and they have proved to be an asset to my fall and winter wardrobe. I have a deep purple, which pairs well with many different things, as well as a light green, which I can wear into spring. My favorite, however, is my maroon pashmina. I had been searching high and low for a maroon scarf to wear to the last few Aggie football games, but to no avail. However, my parents came down to go to the last home game, and my mom surprised me with a maroon pashmina! It was the perfect addition to my gameday attire, and I look forward to wearing it next season, as well!

If you haven’t discovered your passion for pashminas, the time is now (they make excellent stocking stuffers). You can find them at any department store, including Dillard’s, Macy’s, and Stein Mart.
