Friday’s Five

Hey Cats!

It’s Friday at last! Today you’ll probably find me having a panic attack in holiday traffic because some car with those stupid antlers cut me off, since I have waited until now to start my Christmas shopping. LOL, TIS THE SEASON. Also, since I had copious amounts of time to waste this week while I was supposed to be studying for finals, I have found all sorts of wonderful things on the Internet to share with you people. So here’s what I’m loving:

1. Mayhem for JCrew

mayhem-Jcrew

Do you remember Mayhem, the adorable little girl that makes paper dresses? Well, she’s working with JCrew on a collection for Crewcuts. No, this is not a drill- a 4-year-old has your dream job. According to this Buzzfeed article, the 9-piece collection will be available this spring, and in all honesty, I will probably try to fit into it. Or maybe I’ll just buy a headband-tiara and hope that one day, I too will be able to form a collaboration with Jenna Lyons out of craft supplies.

2. Last-Minute Gift Ideas

Girls-weekend-gift-mason-jar

I saw these “Holiday Survival Kits” on Pinterest the other day, and I thought they were adorable! Not necessarily because I need a kit to survive the holidays, but mostly because I like the idea of tying a scarf around the outside of the jar. I feel like gift jars/baskets can sometimes convey a message of, “hey, I didn’t want/have time to get you an actual gift, so I threw some crap in a basket and tied a bow on it, enjoy!” but the scarf makes it more of an actual gift.

3. Prince George’s Christmas Portrait

enhanced-20327-1418510357-7

The best Christmas card that none of us will receive. The Royals released Prince George’s Christmas portraits last week and they couldn’t be more adorable. The cheeks! The hair! The sweater vest! I feel like I could be great friends with this kid- just look at that face, you know he’s got some tricks up his sleeve.

4. Fair Isle Sweaters

JCrew fair isle sweater

So I have this mild obsession with Fair Isle sweaters that tends to resurface around Christmas. Something about them just looks so warm and cozy, which is definitely what I need for Texas weather. Jokes. But I always have this picture in my mind of myself wearing a Fair Isle sweater whilst traipsing around in a snow-covered wooded area, and I’d really like to make that dream a reality. Because the sweater is what’s holding me back. I really like this pastel option from JCrew Factory, so maybe if I get it I can settle for wearing it while walking across campus. Maybe.

5. Man Repeller

mr-square

I may be a little behind on this discovery, but I came across the blog Man Repeller while avoiding studying for finals, and I’m dying. Two of my favorites? This wonderful turtleneck hair tutorial, and this hilariously accurate account of waiting on a boy to text you back that has me convinced I’m being watched/terrified that it actually doesn’t get any better.

That’s all for this week! I’m home for Christmas break, so I can finally blog like a normal person again. YAYAY.

That’s all for meow!

Wednesday Pins-Day

Hey Cats!

Happy Wednesday! Today’s my first real day at work, and I’m so excited! Yesterday I had training, and it was a long day of videos and quizzes, and I walked out to a parking ticket on my car. Wonderful. But today will be better I’m sure! I’m excited to finally get started on my actual internship and see what I’ll be doing for the summer and the school year!

I skipped Wednesday Pins-Day last week, because I hadn’t really been pinning a lot, but this week I have some great things to share!

srirachagrilledcheese

First is this recipe for the ultimate sandwich, a toad-in-a-hole sriracha grilled cheese. Yes, you read that correctly. I almost died of happiness when I came across this pin, because it’s a combination of three of my favorite foods- eggs, sriracha, and cheese. I made this for lunch last week and it was one of the best decisions of my life. I used regular sandwich bread instead of sourdough out of convenience, but it was still more than I could have hoped for. Make this- it’s a glimpse of what I imagine heaven to be like.

austin

Next is this travel guide to Austin from my friends at kate spade new york. I have this new obsession with Austin- despite the fact that “that other school” is located there, it’s a very unique city I’d like to explore more. Hopefully that will be a weekend trip this summer! Also, I’m thinking about attending ACL this year, so this would definitely come in handy!

monogram stamp

This monogrammed stamp from Neiman Marcus would be the perfect southern touch to your stationery collection. I would love to have one for myself, and it would also make a great gift for a bride-to-be, or anyone! You can never go wrong with a monogram.

bag

This Gold Lock Crossbody Bag in Hyper Pink from Kate Spade Saturday is the perfect summer purse. It’s bright color adds a pop to any outfit, and it’s a crossbody, so you won’t have to fuss with it too much!

georgie

Per usual, a baby royal for the road. I’m still loving these sassy photos of Georgie doing his thing as heir to England.

Wednesday Pins-Day

Hey Cats!

Happy Wednesday! I’m so excited for today, because this is the last day of finals, which means my roommates will be done with tests, and I won’t be by myself all day. It’s been nice to relax and not have any responsibilities for the past couple of days, but I’m ready to do fun summer activities with my friends! Since I’ve had all this free time, I’ve been doing plenty of pinning, and I’ve come across a few things I’d like to share with you all!

mirrored pots

First are these cute mirrored plant-holders. (Is that what they should be called? Help.) I love the modern look the mirrors give the plants, and it would work well in a variety of home decor styles. The website isn’t in English, but the photo itself is fairly self-explanatory. Just 5 square mirrors and some hot glue and you’ve got yourself a nice little craft. If I had a green thumb I would be more eager to go for this project, but I typically kill all things green within two weeks, so I might have to adapt this to work with something other than plants.

keyhole earrings

Next are these Keyhole Earrings from sonya renee. My roommate has a similar pair, and I’m mildly obsessed with them. They’re a perfect dainty touch to any outfit, and the classic shape ensures that they will be a staple in your jewelry collection for years to come. These are definitely on my purchase list for this summer!

brussel sprouts

Next is this delicious recipe for roasted brussels sprouts from Cakes Cottage. Brussels sprouts are my new favorite vegetable, and I make them multiple times a week, not a joke. I’ve sauteed them before and enjoyed them, but I think roasting is my favorite. I love how they get really crispy- SO GOOD. Instead of the garlic aioli sauce in this recipe, I typically dip them in a little Greek yogurt mixed with a splash of lime juice and a sprinkle of dill, and it’s everything. If you’re looking for a new side dish, give this one a try- you’ll love it!

george

Finally, I have this adorably hilarious meme of Prince George sassing it up on the Australian tour. I’m so sad that’s over, because between Kate’s ensembles and George’s shenanigans I was incredibly entertained.
