Monday’s Musings

Hey Cats!

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend! It was nice to have time off, hang out with friends, and watch fireworks! And also eat everything I laid my eyes on. Then on Sunday, I cleaned my apartment and found a new favorite grocery store, which I am probably still a liiiittle too excited about. But that’s adulthood for you, I guess.

As I was deciding what to write about for this week’s Monday’s Musings, I was thinking about how different my life looks now than it did a couple of months ago. Almost nothing is the same, and it’s all still pretty new to me, but it’s so,so great.

Thanks to my girl TSwift, I have a really great way to describe how my life in my new city feels. It’s definitely a different tune from what I was used to: I went from having little responsibility to having quite a bit, from having all of my friends in a 10-mile radius to being completely by myself, and from asking permission to making my own decisions. But it’s the best new soundtrack I could have asked for, and I’m ready to dance to it for a long time. I have new routines, new ways of looking at things, a new level of confidence in myself, and I’m finally making new friends, which I love. I’m so thankful that my post-grad experience has been so exciting so far, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Friday’s Five

Hey Cats!

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a good week. Mine has been busy, but pretty good for a test week! I’m also looking forward to the weekend, even though I have my work cut out for me between school and job hunting! But it will be nice to at least stay in my pajamas all day.

Even though it’s been busy, I’ve still had plenty of time to pick out five faves this week. Here’s what I’m loving:

1. Taylor Swift’s Grammys Dress

Dear. Lord. This is perfect. The blue ombre is dazzling, the neckline is flawless, and you think it’s just another ball gown when SURPRISE- hidden mini skirt. Add the purple shoes and I can’t even deal with how wonderful it is anymore. I think Taylor is trying to tell us that she’ll never go out of style, and she’s right.

2. Hummus Crusted Chicken

hummus-crusted-chicken-1

Last week, I decided that after a months-long aversion to hummus (long story involving my mom and sister, Mediterranean food, and preschoolers), I should give it another chance. There were also a few recipes on Pinterest I wanted to try that involved hummus, including this hummus-crusted chicken from Gimme Some Oven. SO GOOD. I’ve made it every night that I’ve actually cooked ever since! I used plain hummus and sprinkled paprika over the top like the recipe calls for, and it’s just delightful. The hummus makes a crust that’s crunchy on the outside and creamy inside, and it’s surprisingly flavorful! One of my roommates made it as well, but she used spicy hummus, and said it was also really yummy. So hummus is back on my radar, and it should definitely be on yours, too.

3. Longchamp ‘Le Pliage’ Travel Bag

longchamp-travel-bag

I came across this Longchamp travel bag a few weeks ago, and the more I look at it, the more I love it. A new duffel is definitely on my Prioritized Purchase list, because I’m 22 and still carrying my high school cheer bag. It’s really roomy, but it’s probably time to be an adult and get some real luggage. I love my Longchamp Le Pliage handbag, so the idea of a travel bag in a similar shape is wonderful! Also, Longchamp bags are very durable, so it would definitely be worth the investment. Now if I could only decide on a color…

4. Kitchen Necessities for the Starter Apartment

As we all know, I’m really excited about decorating my new apartment in an unknown city that I will pay for with a job I don’t yet have. But, it’s important not to forget the basics! I love this list from Blair Blogs of 9 Kitchen Essentials for your starter apartment. I have most of these things, but some are my roommates that I will definitely miss!

5. Comic Relief

I leave you with this, because some days you stop at Starbucks when you really don’t have time. And that’s okay.

Have a great weekend and Happy Valentine’s Day!

Friday’s Five

Hey Cats!

Happy Friday! I’m so excited that I finally have time to blog this week. It’s been busy, but I think I’m adjusting to my new schedule. I also had a shift in my work schedule so I got to sleep in until 9:15 yesterday, which was simply magical. Here’s what I’ve been loving this week:

1. Another Royal baby is on the way!

Kate-Middleton-and-Prince-William-at-Wimbledon

AN HEIR AND A SPARE! Kensington has announced that Kate is indeed pregnant with the second royal baby. As we know, I love Kate, and I’m always happy to have a legitimate reason to be obsessed.

2. 15 Signs You’re the Taylor Swift of your Friend Group

As happens once per week, I found a Buzzfeed article that perfectly describes my life. Except the one about always dating a boy. But even when I don’t date them, they still turn out to be jerks. But the rest of them are spot on, so I guess I’m the T-Swift of my friends. I mean, I never miss a beat & I’m lightning on my feet, so it’s casual.

3. Aggie Football

kyle-fieldAggie football is back in action, and I’m so excited! Last week’s game was a little frustrating, because there was a 2-hour weather delay (it never rained), and so I ended up leaving with my sister and brother-in-law at half time…sars. But this week the Aggies play Rice, which is extra special because my dad played football there! He’s SO excited, because we rarely play each other, and it’s fun to have a little rivalry going!

4. Coffee sugar cookies

I came across this recipe for Coffee Sugar Cookies on Pinterest, and I’m dying to give them a try. It’s two of my favorite things in one!

5. Sassy School Supplies

This sassy ban.do pencil pouch and motivating Kate Spade agenda (I chose the Large in Green Painterly Cheetah) are sometimes the only reason I do my homework. I also like to flash them around when I’m in class so everyone around me knows that they’re in the presence of the Queen of Sass.

Friday’s Five

Hey Cats!

Happy Friday! I don’t know about you, but I’m so glad it’s the weekend. Both of my roommates were gone this week, so I was home by myself all week, and that got a little boring. But I’m at home for my mom’s birthday and a dentist appointment, so it will be nice to see my family for a few days! Here’s what I’m loving this week:

1.

double sided earrings

These double-sided earrings from My Jewel Candy. And basically everything from My Jewel Candy. They have cute, affordable jewelry for every taste- check it out!

2.

t-swift

Taylor Swift’s new song/video Shake It Off. I’m not even sorry about this one.

3.

kate spade purse

I finally got a big-girl purse! I bought this Kate Spade Raina bag during last week’s surprise sale and it came in on Tuesday! I love my Longchamp, but I’ve had it since before I went to college- it was time.

4. Being at home- my senior year (no.) starts in a little over a week, and I’m excited, but not super ready to get back into school mode. I’m glad I have a chance to relax and see my family before things get crazy!

5.

adult-cats

Saving the best for last, this ecard is exactly how I feel about life. I can kind of handle myself, but also not really. Who’s with me?
